Apart
from the restaurants on the Resort, which
include an authentic Japanese restaurant,
the area around San Roque offers a diverse
mix of restaurants, cafes and beach bars
(‘chiringuitos’) from Argentinian
grills to Indian take-aways. There is
something for every taste! There is also
a small commercial centre at the entrance
to the resort where there is a café.
There is sometimes evening entertainment
at the resort and during the Summer months
special events such as outdoor concerts
featuring flamenco dancing and singing
are held.
There is a thriving nightlife in Sotogrande
Marina with many bars and restaurants
including a tapas bar and an Irish Pub/Restaurant.
In Pueblo Nuevo (a local town) there are
more restaurants and bars plus an English-run
club.
The local shops in Pueblo Nuevo include an English butcher’s, Barclays Bank, large Mercadona and Supercor supermarkets with fresh foods and general provisions and a small supermarket specializing in British foods. There is a very large Carrefour hypermarket in La Linea (20 minutes drive) where everything from half a dozen eggs and a bikini to a garden patio set can be purchased! There is a market on Sundays and Wednesdays featuring antiques and crafts in Sotogrande Port, a regular local market in La Linea and if you travel further down the coast there is a Sunday market and car boot sale at Sabinillas (just along from Duquesa Marina – a 20 minute drive away).
